Peace Region Living Labs Project (PRLL)

In the partnership with Peace Region Living Lab and AAFC, MARA is hosting an intercropping trial entitled, “Optimizing Intercrops for the Peace Region” in collaboration with NPARA and SARDA. This project aims at identifying the suitable companion crop (wheat or canola) for the legumes (peas) grown in the northern climates. It would also focus on the economic component of farming which will take factors like crop yield, market price, inputs, labor, and seed separation costs into consideration. In addition to this, the benefits of intercropping on soil health in terms of weed control and fertility would be investigated.
