2025 Pulses Regional Variety Trials

MARA, in partnership with Alberta Pulse Growers, is conducting this year’s pulse crop trials featuring 17 pea varieties (including several new entries), 9 faba bean varieties, and 7 lentil varieties under both conventional and organic management systems. Now in their second year of organic evaluations, these trials examine a combination of new and established cultivars to assess their performance under Mackenzie County’s unique growing conditions. The research provides growers with valuable data on emerging varieties alongside proven options, offering dual-system insights for both conventional and organic production. By tracking cultivar adaptation across different management approaches, the trials deliver locally validated guidance to support informed variety selection decisions.
